Taylorville schools will be closed today, January 23, due to concerns with the early morning commute, however, we will utilize e-learning.

Congratulations to our Red Apple recipient, Mrs. Jacqueline Foil and Mr. Brian Sample, our December staff member of the month.
Mrs. Foil fondly remembers that a teacher made a difference in her life and enjoys having previous students visit her at TJHS. She teaches because of the lifelong connections she is able to make with her students and the blessing it is to be an educator.
Mr. Sample is our support staff member of the month and serves as a 1:1 aide within our educational programming. Not only does Mr. Sample make a difference in the lives of the kids he assists, but he also puts in many hours as the TJHS athletic director. Some of his fondest memories come from post-season games and the enjoyment it brought to the players.
These two individuals exemplify the positive impact educators have on the lives of individuals and the greater community.

Congratulations to Ms. Pellinghelli, our Red Apple recipient for the month of November. Ms. Pellinghelli teaches kids to be better readers and writers. Her favorite literary work is "To Kill a Mockingbird" and she enjoys leading the ELA dept at TJHS. Ms. Pellinghelli is in her 28th year at TJHS and we thank her for her continued commitment to excellence in the classroom.
Our support staff for the month of November include our fantastic administrative assistants, Mrs. Stephanie Althoff and Ms. Julie LeBeane. Mrs. Althoff enjoys watching the kids grow and change over the years that they are in junior high, while Ms. LeBeane enjoys working with the kids, as they make her smile every day.

Mrs. Foil’s 7th grade Geography Class made Ugly Christmas Sweaters. Each student choose a country and added forms of Movement (transportation, trade and migration) to it. They then selected a pattern from their country to add to the sweater. Students were introduced to the 195 countries of the world.

Join us at TJHS this evening for our annual Christmas Concert. This event begins at 7:00 pm. Doors open at 6:30 pm.

The "Twelve Daze of Christmas" play production began this morning and WOW!!! The kids are doing a great job, the set looks great, and the sound system is much improved. Showtimes for tomorrow are 2 pm and 6:30 pm. Come out and support the arts! Happy Holidays and well done Director Febus.

Mrs. Reindl went into the 5-8th grade classrooms and taught a coding lesson for Hour of Code last week. 5th grade did rodocodo, 6th grade coded a rotating Earth with texture, 7th grade coded moving WordArt, some classes coded the Tickle Monster using hand recognition, and 8th grade coded a chat box, connected it to ChatGPT, named the chat box, and interacted with the chat box. Because the Jr. High registered for Hour of Code, we did a drawing and gave prizes out! Anyone in the school who coded with Mrs. Reindl, had their name put into the drawing. The t-shirt winners were: Aubree Durbin - 5th grade, Baileigh Donaldson - 6th Grade, Olivia Gray and Jaina Rathgeber - 7th Grade, Kaden Presnell and Kiera Neeley - 8th Grade. The winners of the starbucks gift cards were: Braylon Smithson - 6th Grade, William Nolen - 7th Grade, and Christena Bright - 8th Grade. #HourOfCode @codeorg

TJHS staff are in the Christmas spirit! We are committed to finishing well this semester!
