Sharing more holiday fun from TJHS!
The 8th grade team is united in their desire to make school and learning fun! Keep up the great work!!
The "Twelve Daze of Christmas" play production began this morning and WOW!!! The kids are doing a great job, the set looks great, and the sound system is much improved. Showtimes for tomorrow are 2 pm and 6:30 pm. Come out and support the arts! Happy Holidays and well done Director Febus.
Mrs. Reindl went into the 5-8th grade classrooms and taught a coding lesson for Hour of Code last week. 5th grade did rodocodo, 6th grade coded a rotating Earth with texture, 7th grade coded moving WordArt, some classes coded the Tickle Monster using hand recognition, and 8th grade coded a chat box, connected it to ChatGPT, named the chat box, and interacted with the chat box. Because the Jr. High registered for Hour of Code, we did a drawing and gave prizes out! Anyone in the school who coded with Mrs. Reindl, had their name put into the drawing. The t-shirt winners were: Aubree Durbin - 5th grade, Baileigh Donaldson - 6th Grade, Olivia Gray and Jaina Rathgeber - 7th Grade, Kaden Presnell and Kiera Neeley - 8th Grade. The winners of the starbucks gift cards were: Braylon Smithson - 6th Grade, William Nolen - 7th Grade, and Christena Bright - 8th Grade. #HourOfCode @codeorg
TJHS staff are in the Christmas spirit! We are committed to finishing well this semester!

PICTURE RETAKE DAY INFO--Monday, Dec 4 @ TJHS.
5th graders are coding their Sphero's to do a complete water cycle with the help of Mrs. Tammy Reindl. Mrs. Reindl is our technology integrationist and does an outstanding job of introducing 21st century skills across the curriculua to our TJHS students.
Congratulations to Ms. Cathy Molen, our Red Apple recipient for the month of October and Mr. Josh Dively our support staff member of the month.
Ms. Molen loves helping students see their potential and building caring relationships with them throughout the school year. She also loves it when past students come by to pay a visit!
Mr. Dively enjoys introducing new books to the kids and hearing about the ones they like and why. He also enjoys helping kids have a better experience on a daily basis by assisting with their Chromebooks. These two professionals exemplify why our community is so fortunate in the care of the next generation of leaders.
This crew is ready to load up cars with Fannie May candy tomorrow at TJHS and would like to send a few reminders:
• Please arrive at your student’s dismissal time. Arriving early blocks the flow of traffic in the circle drive.
• Please remain in your vehicle. Student Council Executive Board members will load the candy for you.
• Please pull forward to allow as many cars into the circle drive as possible.
• Finally, there will be instructions in your student’s order to address any customer service issues.
Congratulations to these Miller Media Group and People's Bank & Trust Students of the Month for October. These students exemplified our TJHS October Tornado Trait "Kindness" and were selected from their grade levels for this recognition. Look for their interviews on WTIM radio.
L-R: Sam Wagner (7), Daisie Williamson (5), Dezirae Morrow (6), Elayna Harker (8)

These TJHS musicians spent Saturday, November 4 at Eastern Illinois University, representing our community well as they participated in the ILMEA District Five Jazz Festival.
First National Bank in Taylorville recently dropped off a generous donation to the PBIS Store at Taylorville Junior High School. Students at TJHS work to earn Tommy Tickets to spend at the store each month. Students earn tickets for being Trustworthy, Teachable, and Thoughtful. Thank you, First National Bank in Taylorville, for supporting our students!
Just a reminder for TJHS students:
Monday, November 6th, will be Red, White, and Blue Day in honor of our Veterans Day Breakfast.
